Start a blog

Do you want to start a blog? Do you know starting a blog in Nigeria comes with its peculiarities? Some of the things that worked for bloggers in other countries may not work exactly the same for you. You need to be abreast of how to start a blog in Nigeria. Understand your challenges, the audience and different Monetization strategies available to you.

Blog marketing is a vast industry that is not easily saturated. It’s like the book industry. Each book is unique and different from another book even if both are on the same topic. The book industry cannot be saturated.

Blogging is like that too. It’s even more unique than books because each blog post is a new chapter of a book itself.

You can start your blog today and very sure it will be successful. Every blog has the potential to be successful. You will learn from this article not just how to start a blog but also how to make it profitable in Nigeria.

The process of starting a blog and turning it into a profitable business is not complicated at all. You only need to follow a proven method of blogging, and you will get there.

So, I’m writing this individual bloggers guide to help you understand the steps you should follow when starting a blog in Nigeria.

Why You Should Start A Blog:

Should I even be telling you about this? You have already made up your mind before stumbling upon my article on how to start a blog in Nigeria. Well, that’s what I think. But I will still try and convince you on why you start a blog.

My first reason is simple, everyone is starting a blog, why shouldn’t you? According to QuickSprout, there are over 150,000,000 blogs on the internet. And every second a new blog is created.

The question you should ask is, why these many blogs? Why are people starting a new blog every second? The answer is in the reason you should start one. But the real question is why do you need to start a blog?

Here are the reasons:

  1. You need a platform to express yourself
  2. If you love solving problems
  3. If you are a writer or author
  4. You have exceptional skills in any subject
  5. You like helping others
  6. If you want to influence others
  7. Maybe you are even a student
  8. You love travelling
  9. Or you have an exciting hubby
  10. You can also be a pastor, politician, or activist

The list goes on and on. However, one of the challenges of blogging is writing your content. It’s a massive challenge if you don’t enjoy writing. You can hire someone to write for you. You can even outsource your content writing to freelancers.

But nothing compares to the bloggers own style and inspiration. If you cannot write, go ahead and hire writers, there is nothing wrong with it. You don’t have to even know how to write to blog. What you need is the vision and the solution you are providing.

How To Choose A Blog Niche:

A niche is like a problem your blog is designed to solve. Looking for a niche to start blogging should be easy, once you know the question you want to answer.

So, what is that problem you have found an answer?

Although, picking a niche for your blog is not entirely straightforward. Even after you select your niche, you still need to calculate the traffic volume, the revenue model and conversion funnel.

However, you don’t have to be a pro blogger to figure it all out. You only need to follow what existing blogs are doing well, and you will be just fine.

I have picked out some already successful blog niches you can start in Nigeria. These blogs are proven to work in Nigeria.

Profitable Nigerian Blog Niches:

  1. Fashion Blog
  2. Shopping blog
  3. Business blog
  4. Food blog
  5. Educational blog
  6. Religious blog
  7. Travel blog
  8. News blog

Although I listed these Niches by there main categories, you can pick from a sub or sub-sub category niche. Also, I’m not trying to do a directory on niches. It’s just a guide to help you see what Niches are possible.

If you have a niche in mind, it’s equally as good. Do research on it. If it’s a problem many people have and you can monetise it as well.

Choose A Blog Platform:

There is so many blog platform to start your blog. Choose right. The platform you use may affect the success of your blog. All the different platforms are not the same. They differ in usability, features, expandable options, migration, interconnection, and leverage.

Here are a few lists of Blog platforms.

  1. WordPress
  2. Wix
  3. Blogger
  4. Joomla
  5. Medium
  6. Quora
  7. Tumblr
  8. Drupal

Your choice of a blog platform should be determined by your strategy. These are not the full list of blog engine, but I selected those I feel you might like to use. You can also combine some of the platforms as a strategy for your blog.

For example, you can have a WordPress blog and still blog on Medium, Tumblr and Quora. I combine the four myself. I use them differently, that way I leverage each of their powers to achieve my blog strategy.

Although I’m not giving details on each of the platforms, you can find that in another article. It will help you understand how each of them works and how you can leverage them profitably.

Cost of Starting a Blog in Nigeria:

There is the cost of starting a blog in Nigeria. I know there are articles written on how you can start a free blog. Well, that kind of blogs is for a personal blog that doesn’t require a commercial value.

If you are starting a blog to make money, you will need to invest money as well. In the world of business, there is no free lunch. Anything you get for free in business has the full potential hidden from you.

That is why I always recommend you buy what you use for business. I know due to startup fund limits, most Nigerians are looking for how to start a free blog. That can also lead to ‘free’ poverty. Those who make money know you have to buy the product if you want to get the best of it.

Here is my cost outlay for your blog. It’s just a startup cost. And it’s estimated. You can find a cheaper option or may even make a higher cost decision. It’s up to you.

Startup Cost Estimate:

  1. Domain name – N3,500/Yearly
  2. Web hosting plan – N17,500/Yearly
  3. Blog theme – N18,000/One-off cost

The total cost is N39,000 for the first year. If you compare this to opening a physical office, you can see it’s cost effective. If you can afford to invest hundreds of thousands of NAIRA in office space, this shouldn’t be a huge task for you.

Register a Domain Name:

The challenge you may have with registering a domain name is getting the best one for your blog. Your domain name is an essential factor for SEO strategy for your blog. Google algorithm factors domain authority into scores for ranking your blog.

The right domain adds immediate value and increases your brand identity with little effort.

Here are things to consider when registering a domain name for your blog.

  1. Go for dot-com domain if your target is an international audience. Also suitable for a Nigerian blog. But a dot NG domain name gives your blog local ranking preference over dot-com domain in Google Nigeria search engine.
  2. Pick domain name with a popular keyword like “business.com.ng” is a considerable keyword advantage if you are starting a blog to share tips on business.
  3. Consider similar domain names. Find out if others are using a similar domain name in the same or related category. It boosts your domain brand identity if similar domains have high domain authority.
  4. Buy a domain name from a registrar that can offer you better domain management features. The more useful feature your registrar provides, the better.

Choose the following domain registrars. For Nigerian dot NG domain use WhoGoHost. If you would prefer using dot-com domain I recommend Godaddy.

Buy a Web Hosting Plan:

Your blog needs a hosting plan to store all the blogs you will be posting. Choosing a good hosting plan is essential. And as a Nigerian blog, choosing an affordable hosting plan is even more critical considering the exchange rate of dollars to NAIRA.

But you need to invest in a good web hosting package for several reasons.

  1. For the security of your blog
  2. For reliability of your blog
  3. And search engine optimisation as well

You may not know how good host impacts on your blog SEO until your blog is flagged for either spamming or virus. Hosting your blog on web hosts that are hosts to spamming sites or virus prone websites will impact negatively on your SEO.

So, you have to choose wisely where you host your blog. There are several web host online. But I wouldn’t say you should pick anyone. Since I’m helping you start a Profitable blog, I should also help you choose the best hosting package.

I’m recommending Bluehost, and I will also like to let you know that I have an exclusive deal with them that would give you a cheaper hosting plan, free domain and help you install WordPress with just one-click. That also includes some financial reward for me, but it’s not at any cost to you. The rates you pay for hosting is not affected by this commission.

Bluehost offers you a monthly hosting deal at $3.95/Month (N1,500/Month). But you will need to subscribe for a pat least 36 months to enjoy this rate. And the offer comes with free 1-year domain name registration.

Recommended Hosting Companies:

  1. NameCheap
  2. Bluehost
  3. Godaddy
  4. WhoGoHost
  5. HostGator
  6. SiteGround
  7. iPage
  8. A2 Hosting
  9. MDD Hosting
  10. InMotion
  11. Hostinger
  12. FastComet

And many more others. You can host with any one of them as you choose. But if you want my honest recommendation, I will give you the ones I have tested, like Bluehost, Godaddy, NameCheap, and Hostgator. And on a personal note, I promote Bluehost as an affiliate. If you choose Bluehost, I will be getting some commission from the company.

How To Install WordPress (optional):

If you are ready to start a blog in Nigeria, here are your steps to installing a WordPress blog using a Bluehost plan.

Step 1: Select your preferred Bluehost plan and pay with your naira MasterCard or VISA card. Follow the purchase guide on Bluehost to complete the purchase process for your hosting account.

Step 2: Create a password for your hosting account and login to the hosting panel.

Buy a Blog Theme:

For a beginner blogger, you don’t need to know how to design a blog to get started. You don’t even need to hire a web designer. All that is old school. What you need now is a premium theme, a well-designed website in a box.

Although WordPress offers lots of free themes you can pick and start your blog, it’s not always a wise decision. That may be good when setting up your blog. But you have to change to a premium theme when you are ready to start blogging to the world. I strongly don’t recommend using a free WordPress theme. Here are my reasons.

  1. A free theme is less secured than a premium theme.
  2. The free theme doesn’t have the full features you need to maximise theme functionalities.
  3. Free blog themes are not Reliable
  4. Free WordPress themes are not responsive to devices
  5. The free WordPress theme is not SEO compliant
  6. Free themes don’t look better than the premium version.

Reasons to Buy Premium Theme:

Making a good investment to buy a premium theme is worth it. If you don’t see it now, maybe later you will. It’s the same as having a wrong website. A good theme is one of the most valuable investment you will make for your blog.

Here are my reasons.

  1. Premium themes are SEO compliant
  2. They are most responsive to devices
  3. They are securely designed and tested against security breaches
  4. The premium theme is designed with speed in mind. A faster site means faster Google crawling and better ranking
  5. It’s cheaper than building a website or hiring a designer to create one for you.
  6. You can choose the right theme designed just for your type of blog.

Where To Buy Premium Blog Themes:

I have bought my themes from these two sites – Themeforest and MyThemeShop. The two are marketplaces for themes and plugins. The beauty of it is that they have the most extensive inventory of WordPress blog themes, making it easy for you to make the right choice.

Themeforest is my preferred. I bought my blog theme from the site. I love their WordPress themes a lot. They have more inventory than MyThemeShop. But their price starts from $19 depending on the kind of WordPress theme you want.

However, I advise that you buy themes from $50 and above. My reason is simple, the higher the price, the better the WordPress theme. You don’t expect a WordPress theme of $19 to have the same features as the WordPress theme of $50.

There are also themes of $300 and above. The better the features you want, the higher the cost. You can also ask the developer to customise the theme after purchase. Although that would attract additional fees.

Choose WordPress Plugins:

If you are going to be using WordPress, you will hear a lot about plugins. One of the beauties of using WordPress is that you get to expand the functionality using plugins. As the name implies, they added the feature that you can plug into your WordPress blog to add more functionality as you choose.

WordPress has tens of thousands of these plugins and with different feature requirements. That’s what gives WordPress an edge over the other platforms. You can turn a WordPress site into any function you want it to have. And cost effective.

For example, with a WordPress plugin, you can add SEO toolkit that helps you manage your on-page SEO like the pros. With little SEO knowledge, you can do SEO techniques on your site.

List Of WordPress Plugins To Install:

• Security – WordFence

• Caching – W3 Total Cache

• SEO – Yoast SEO

• Image Optimization – WP ShortPixel

• Speed – AutoOptimize

• Subscription Forms – WP Subscribe

• Anti-Spam – Akismet Anti-Spam

• Comments – Disqus

• Social Sharing – Sassy Social Share

• Backup Plugin – My WP Backup

• Contact & Other Forms – Contact Form 7

• Statistics plugins – Google Analytics Dashboard for WP

• eCommerce (Physical) – WooCommerce

• eCommerce (Digital) – Easy Digital Downloads

• Reviews – WP Review

• Performance Check – P3 Profiler

• Lazy Loading – A3 Lazy Load

• Rich Snippets – All in One Schema Rich Snippets

• Gallery – FooGallery

• Tag Management – Google Tag Manager for WordPress

• Push Notifications – OneSignal Push Notifications

• Facebook Pixel – Pixel Caffeine

• Post Styling – WP Shortcode

• Table of Contents – Table of Contents Plus

• Creating Tables – TablePress

I have included links to all the plugins with their names so you won’t have any confusion when you install the plugins on your website. Most of the plugins also have a free version of WordPress.

That will allow you to test before buying the full version. And you will need either your naira MasterCard or VISA card since the payments are in USD.

How to Start Blogging – Content Marketing:

Your blog is not going to grow if you are not blogging. It’s like building a house, each block you add takes you closer to the final design form. The faster you add chunks, the faster the house will be made. But if you are not adding any block or you are adding it slowly, the house will slowly get built.

I hope you get the idea. The more information you have on your blog, the better your ranking. Your Google is what determines the volume of online traffic you get every day.

In Nigeria, most successful blogs did little or no blog optimisation. It’s actually easier to rank your blog in Nigeria. I have tried running a blog both on the global stage and local Nigeria. It’s tougher out there because most people know what you know. But here in Nigeria, it’s a lot easier and faster too.

But the part of writing good contents hasn’t changed. Google is ranking quality contents at the top of the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). You have to write quality contents to get top ranking on Google.

And writing authority contents can be easier if you follow some proven guide. I have listed a few of the steps you should follow to write powerful contents for Google ranking.

How to Write Blog Contents for Google Ranking:

There is a reason I’m making more emphasis on Google ranking. Your blog has no value if it’s not seen by visitors online. And to make your blog visible to online visitors you need Google.

Google connects your blog to the massive volume of free search visitors. You can get millions of free traffic from Google every month. But you need to give Google want it wants to get what you want. That’s how it works.

And you must avoid copying content. It’s dead on arrival strategy for any blogger that copies. Google will soon find out because each blog post has a date and time of posting. Google index all that with the content. When you copy, it’s easy to find out, even if you try to readjust it.

Write your own content. It’s hard work, but it pays at the end. There is no exemption to these rules. Follow them if you want Google to love your blog.

Tips for Writing Blog Contents for Google Ranking:

Okay, I’m still on Google ranking. I’m just making the subheading shorter so you can follow me all the way. See these tips to write your content. The best blog contents for Google ranking are the contents people love and visit more.

  1. Write blog contents that solve problems in your niche
  2. Avoid using the word ‘we’ and ‘they’, Instead, use ‘you’ and ‘i’ words.
  3. Always start with an introduction to the topic. And give your readers a quick start into what your content is about in a way that motivates.
  4. Trying using ‘Table Of Contents’ when you can to give details of what’s inside your article.
  5. Teach people. Don’t just pass information. People are looking for how to solve a problem and not a reminder of the problem.
  6. Properly edit and proofread your blog. Editing errors can mar the impact of your content.
  7. Try as much as possible to use references. Google like to know how you arrive at your facts.
  8. Use a conclusion at the end of every article. It works in reminding your readers what they might have missed if they jumped to the end of your blog. Make it end well too.
  9. The word count for your article is equally vital to Google ranking. Although, that depends on industry and country as well. On average, Google ranks web articles with 2,000 and above words higher than those with less word count.

How Blogs Grow And Become Successful:

As you start blogging, you may face some challenges. So, it’s important I show you what those challenges would be and how you can overcome them quickly before they overwhelm you. Consider it as a business and treat it as such.

Your blog is not going to start growing immediately you start blogging. In fact, nobody knows you even started a blog. So, nobody will be reading your blog. But that’s okay because you just started.

If you are doing the right things as I have shown you in this guide, your blog will surely grow. You may not see any improvement in the first six months of blogging. I mean you may not see visitors to your blog. You may get 100 to 300 visitors per month.

But as you continue blogging, you will start seeing progress in the tenth or twelfth month. Yea, it may depend on your niche and keyword traffic volume. You should learn more about keywords and search engine optimisation.

However, your blog starts seeing a massive amount of free web traffic in the second year of blogging. That’s how long it can take for search engines to build enough index on your blog and recognise the depth of your blog authority in your niche.

How To Monetize Your Blog:

Making money from the blog has become so easy. Although, Nigeria has its peculiarity in blog Monetization. Most bloggers are using the most common strategy, which is Adsense. And Adsense has its issues too with Nigerian bloggers.

The three types of blog revenue models are:

  1. Advertisements
  2. Affiliates
  3. Products

You can monetise your blog using options from any of the three revenue model. Or you can use all the three models for your blog.

The problem with choosing an advertising model in Nigeria is the low cost of ads. The revenue for advertisements in Nigeria is still meagre. Google seems to price ads based on each countries average revenue per user.

But if you have no choice but to use Adsense, you should look at your statistics well and calculate what you can possibly earn from your target traffic.

Here is the formula I use to calculate ad revenue from Adsense. It’s not an exact estimate but my own way of convincing myself of the potential of ad revenue and how much traffic I should target to hit my ad revenue goals.

Google Nigeria Adsense Revenue Calculations:

According to WordSteam average CPC (Cost Per Click) rate per country, Nigeria was not listed in the other 97 nations compared with USA average CPC rate. That’s because Nigeria CPC rate is in the less than 100% and below of US average rate of $1.

So, I’m using a $0.05 CPC and a 5% CTR (Click Through Rate). Thus, the amount of traffic you will need to make $1,000 per month will be around these figures.

To figure out the number of clicks that equates to $1,000
1,000 / 0.05 = 20,000 clicks.

If you need 20,000 clicks at 5% CTR, the total traffic should be…
20,000 / 0.05 = 400,000 visitors

You will need 400,000 visitors a month. Per year will be

400,000 x 12 = 4,800,000

400,000 visitors every month will make you $1,000/month from Adsense. However, that is just an estimation. I also did not consider other revenue sources you may add to your blog.

Best Blog Monetization Options For Nigeria:

You should explore broader revenue sources for your blog. In fact, successful bloggers in Nigeria do not depend on Adsense at all. They have developed their own revenue models beyond Adsense story.

Some of them make money publishing promotional blog content. And it can cost as much as N50,000 for a post. Companies who understand the potential are paying to have their post on blogs with lots of traffic.

Here are a few lists of blog Monetization ideas for Nigerian bloggers to help you see what’s possible.

  1. Sell products and services for companies on your blog for commission as an affiliate
  2. Find companies to promote on your blog with content marketing
  3. Sell keyword links to other online businesses. You can link other sites with anchor text keywords on your traffic pages and get paid.
  4. Sell ads directly to companies instead of using the only Adsense.
  5. You can sell your own products. It’s a premium revenue model for blogs.
  6. Promote your own business. If you run a business or businesses, you can do content marketing for your transactions on your blogs.
  7. If you are an author, promote and sell your books using your blog.
  8. A church can open an online church service utilising a blog.
  9. NGOs can accept donations and volunteers on their blogs.
  10. Government or organisations can promote its agencies on its blog.

Only use Adsense as an additional revenue source. It can be discouraging if your Adsense Revenue doesn’t add up tangibly financially. It’s better you know this truth and prepare your blog for profit beyond Adsense.

Read Blogs On Blogging Tips And Guide:

If you are going to have success, you have to read more about blogging. You need to be abreast with new tips and guides on blogging. Don’t just do your thing. Learn continually from other bloggers.

You learn both from beginners and old bloggers. Don’t think because someone is a beginner mean he doesn’t know much. Some beginner bloggers are expert in the niche they are blogging.

And some Beginners are SEO experts. I have one like that as a mentor. CHRIS Lee was working as an SEO expert with a Company and didn’t even know much about blogging. Now he is teaching about growing your site traffic on his blog.

These are the kind of people you shouldn’t miss learning from at any cost. The whole idea is for you to mark out blogs you will follow. These should be blogs that would help your blogging career.

I also included links to other blogs in the niche examples. It will give you some idea of blogs you might also like to follow.

Conclusion On How To Start A Blog In Nigeria:

It’s never late to start a blog. Since the beginning of the world, people have been giving birth. Nothing is ever too late. So, don’t see Successful Blogs as a sign of intense competition. Every competition can’t be beaten. Facebook was not the first social media.

Think about all the businesses that have come and gone. Nokia used to be the number mobile phone. That position is taken over my iPhone.

Anything is possible. If you want to have the most successful blog in Nigeria, it’s possible! It doesn’t matter who has tried and failed. They probably didn’t know what you know now.

I wrote this guide to help you overcome any challenge of starting a successful blog in Nigeria. If you do what I have recommended for you in this guide, you will be a success.

Think about the future. Five years from now, how big would your blog have grown? If you could imagine it, you should wait for it because it’s possible with blogs.

How to Start a Successful Gas Product Dealership

If you are looking for something to do this year, I will recommend becoming a gas product dealer agent. This is not that kind of 9 am to 5 pm collar jobs that pay you peanuts monthly. Gas Product Dealership is a lucrative investment.

This one is less stressful and can also give you a good monthly income that is regular and enough to make you a good breadwinner for your family.

Even if you don’t know anything about gas or it’s products and hasn’t also done business before, I can show you a very easy to follow steps to start this business even from the comfort of your home.

And you can start with just N20,000 now – the startup price might go up in the future but if you take my advice and start now that is the amount I advise you to start with as a beginner.

Gas Business Guide For Beginners:

Before I even go further, let me first explain to you what you will be learning from this article so you can make up your mind to read also or merely stop here now and use your time for other things.

Because this is a gas business guide for beginners. I will be showing just the products to start with – but I recommend you start with only one and as you grow with that one you can add other gas products as well.

So, I will be showing you the Gas Product Dealership you can start with and why. I will also explain to you how to choose your supplier or suppliers. You will learn how a supplier can affect your business and what supplier you should deal with and why. I will also show you how to sell gas products as a dealer agent.

This is the most important aspect of this business. This will help you start selling and making money immediately even before you invest your N20,000. You might as well sell your first products before you also buy your first stock.

Once you have customers who will buy from you or you are so sure of it will sell in your city, you can now invest more money. I will show you how to finance it, what it’s for, who to send the money to and how much you can make from your N20,000 investment.

Profitable Gas Products:

Now, let’s start with finding profitable gas products you can deal on. Let me also explain your job as a gas product dealer agent. It will help you know the products you can sell better in your city.

As a gas product dealer agent, you are a representative for gas products manufacturer or importer in your city. Since they cannot be in every town, your job is to bring gas products, especially new ones closer to your market.

Most gas shop owners buy from other retailers like themselves without knowing it. That makes their prices higher. Now, you can be that go between agent.

If you are an agent to RHINO, for instance, you have all their support in your city for all their products as well. I will make a list of some of the products.

Items In Gas Product Dealership:

  1. Gas regulator
  2. Gas cylinder
  3. Camp gas burner
  4. Gas valve
  5. Gas Hose
  6. Gas Leak indicator

Let me explain what each product is for and the demand for it and why you should deal with it. The gas regulator is in colossal order now. Many families are changing to gas.

You know this thing when your neighbour’s husband buy the gas cooker for his wife, and your wife won’t let you rest until you buy for her too.

Gas Cooker:

Many families are buying gas cooker because of this. Don’t underestimate the power of a woman when she wants something her neighbour has in her house. When you purchase a gas cooker, you must buy a gas cylinder with the regulator.

Gas Burner:

It’s the same with the demand for camp gas burner – in case you don’t know this camp gas burner is those small gas cylinder that has the burner attached directly to the bottle. They have become very popular now, especially among university students.

Gas Valve And Hose:

While the gas valve and hose are also in demand on their own. Though they are not much of a hot product because valves come together with camp burners most time but the hose is in regular order but with meagre-profit margin. That’s why you shouldn’t do hose as a single product dealership.

Rhino Gas Regulator:

But here is my recommended gas product you can start with right now as a beginner. Even though camp gas burners are the huge market, I will not advise you to start with it as a beginner.

The reason is simple, it’s everywhere, and the profit margin is too lean. You don’t want to start with a keenly competitive product in a business that you are just learning.

What you need is a product with a reasonable profit margin, that is not everywhere in the market but has huge demand even in a small town. So, I will recommend just the right product for you.

Rhino Gas Brand:

It’s called RHINO Gas regulator with leak dictator and gauge. This is not the regular gas regulator. This one has a gauge to help monitor gas usage, so you will know when your gas is about to finish. The regulator also save customers gas, because it’s low pressure regulator.

And it has leak dictator and can stop leakages of gas. It’s a product every gas user would want to buy. In fact, some people who already have the old regulator will buy this one to replace it. I will also show you how to get this product.

However, I will advice you get samples of the regulator. Here is why and how to get the samples. You need to see the product for yourself and even test it.

I recommend that you use one in your house to see how it works and so that you can boldly tell your customers how Best it works. It’s SONCAP approved.

Dealership Plan:

For N150,000 you will before a retailer in your location. If you want to be a distributor in your state, the startup amount is N1,500,000. You will have an exclusive dealership in your state. However, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt doesn’t have exclusive arrangement.

After that, you will not be able to get this small measure at this wholesale price. So, I advise you to use this opportunity to kickstart your gas product business. The retail price for this type of RHINO GAS REGULATOR is between N3,000 to N4,500. Some even sell as high as N5,000. Even that old regular ones sell as much as N2,500. If you do all the maths, you can see how much on retail you can make from this product. That is why I recommend this gas regulator to you.

But here is the main secret to selling it faster and more profitable. In your town, you can find at least two to five gas plants depending on your city, and many gas stores that are selling gas products.

  1. Make a list of all of them.
  2. Go to them one after the other
  3. Ask them how much they are selling their gas regulators.

Don’t tell them you want to sell to them. See the different ones they have and their prices. If possible snap them pictures, note the prices and collect their name or business name, shop address and phone contact. They will give you willingly.

Try to reach at least 50 shops. After you have done this, you now have 50 potential outlets where you can sell your gas product. Make sure too that you have the samples ready if you are going to do this because you will need it to kickstart the sales.

Dealership Potential:

Now that you have 50 potential shops that you can supply your gas regulator, choose a day to start calling them and introducing the regulator to them. I recommend you call them between Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s. Call between 11am to 2pm.

However, you must have decided how much you are going to sell to them. Note that these shops retail and they probably have somewhere they are buying regulators from. Also, they have a price they are hiring too.

So, your secret here is that you know how much they are selling. So, set your wholesale price not more that N200 margin from your cost price, because these shops are going to retail and you wouldn’t want them to reject it.

If the 50 shops that will buy a retail quantity of 10 pieces that is 500 pieces. If you calculate it by your N500 profit margin that’s N250,000 profit. Remember that these shops will now be buying from you all the time. Let’s assume it’s monthly, then you now have a regular N250,000 monthly income.

Chose Your Supplier:

However, if you now meet a challenge like not having the money to supply all that much order, that is where choosing the right supplier is essential. A good supplier is a partner that works together with you.

You help him sell his product to your market, and he should be able to help you as well. Don’t start asking for credit or pay on delivery. You won’t get that. Here is what I recommend that you request from your supplier.

If you have like 10 shops that want products at the same time, but you don’t have the money to order that quantity, you can contact your supplier and explain the situation to him. They might request that they call the shops themselves to be sure they are will to buy.

If you are working with a trusted supplier that is good but a lousy supplier can take those details from you and cut you off – and might even offer them the same price he is selling to you. The only way to guide against this is to have money to buy your stock or convince your buyers to give you their money upfront if they can trust you, or deal only from a trusted supplier.

Rhino Gas Company:

I want to recommend that you deal directly with the company that owns RHINO GAS REGULATORS. The company name is Rhino Industrial & Trading Company Limited. The are the manufacturers of the RHINO GAS REGULATOR.

They can also be trusted with contacts of your customers to help you meet colossal supply order if you don’t have money to order that big. They will request the connection of your customers. Call them on your behalf to confirm both their respective order, quantity and payment time.

Then, they will send a marketer to your city with the orders, while both of you will do the supply and collect money. They will take their cost and raise your profit. Also, you can ask the customers to pay directly into the company account, and you will arrange with RHINO to send the order.

How To Work In Dubai: Get Paid Over 600k Monthly

Do you know how to drive? Would you like to work for a taxi company in United Arab Emirate? Can you afford to pay the expenses to process your travel permits to work in Dubai? If your answers are yes, then read further. I have instant employment for you in UAE.

The job is available now. It’s not a promise. Once you qualify, and pass the interview here that will be conducted in Nigeria, you will be on your way to Dubai. The job is for a two years driving job. After the first two years, you can renew your contract and extend your work permit to allow you to continue to live and work in UAE.

Which Work In Dubai Jobs Available?

If you are now unemployed here is your chance to gain meaningful employment with good monthly salary. The jobs are guaranteed if you meet the necessary requirements.

The salary is also good compared to salaries you can get in Nigeria. Even though it’s driving job, it’s more decent that bank jobs in Nigeria. And it’s not like the kind of driving job you have in Nigeria. This one is executive driving.

You will also get bonus salary. Yes, you will be getting bonus salary every month for hard work. Sometimes, your bonus maybe more than your basic salary. If you are hardworking you can earn your salary times two as bonus monthly. Assuming your salary is N400,000, you can earn bonus salary of over N800,000. Although, this amount is not guarantee but it’s possible.

There is also one month leave every year for that two years. You will have opportunity to come to Nigeria and see your family once in a year.

And there are other incentives depending on the company you work for in Dubai. Some of the incentives includes:

  1. Free feeding allowance for the first three months you are in Dubai.
  2. Free accommodation (depending on the company you work for)
  3. Driving school training to teach you how to drive in UAE

And many others.

What is the average Salary in Dubai?

The salary in Dubai is more than the salaries in Nigeria. The basic salary for a cab driver is around N250,000 to N400,000 depending on the company you are working for.

But the average bonus salary is N300,000 to N1,000,000 monthly. In Dubai hard work is encouraged. Since you are generating revenue, the company encourages you to work hard by sharing part of the revenue you generate with you as bonus salary.

That means, while you get your normal salary for working for them, you can also get extra pay every month for generating for revenue for them. The bonus salary is not paid to everyone but those who worked hard that month.

It’s to discourage laziness and idleness. If you want to be paid more money you equally work for it.

What Are The Working Hours in Dubai?

In Dubai there is nothing like working hours for a cab driver. It’s a 24 hours job. So, you can work as much as you want and earn as much as you work.

However, the company might decide to share the time between you and another driver, like a shift job. While you work for 12 hours, your partner will work for the rest 12 hours of the day.

That makes it easy for both of you to rest in the 12 hours when you are not working. And be strong enough to work your 12 hours times successfully.

You may also be given a 24 hours work time. Those who work for 24 hours doesn’t necessarily work all the 24 hours everyday. They pick the time passengers are more and rest when it’s low peak.

However, working for 24 hours means more money for a driver. You work more and earn more as well. The richest drivers in Dubai are those that have 24 hours driving. But companies don’t easily give you a car to your self for 24 hours. You must work hard and have proven it to them.

How Can Get A Job in Dubai?

Getting a job in Dubai is not difficult. You need to have the qualification for any job you want to do. It’s a law abiding country. So, everything is done according to the law. But to get a driving job doesn’t need much qualification. Though you are required to meet the following requirements:

  1. Drivers license with at least 3 years driving experience in Nigeria. A new drivers license will not be accepted. It must be at a least three years. Expired one is preferred because it means you have used it for up to 3 to 5 years.
  2. International passport with age not more than 45 years. The age for driving is below 45 years. However, they are looking at the age on your passport to decide your age. Your passport must show age below 45 years. New passports are allowed as well.
  3. West African O’Level examination certificate. You will need at least WAEC certificate. You will be required to attend driving school when you get to Dubai. So, ability to read and write is required. You WAEC certificate is proof that you have some basic education.
  4. Police report to certify that you don’t have criminal record. This one is obtainable in Lagos or Abuja Police office. In Lagos it’s only PANTI that issues this document. In Abuja its force headquarters. It’s just for police to prove that you have no criminal record. It can cost like N20,000 for the document.
  5. Other documents include health tests. There are basic health tests that are required like, HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis.

How Can I Get Dubai Work Visa?

Dubai work visa is only issued to companies employing people in Dubai. They are not issued to people. To get a Dubai work visa you need to first get employed by a company in Dubai. And the company will ask for a work visa for you before it can be granted.

Anyone who claims to get you a work visa is a fraud. You must first get employed and the company that employed you will not apply for a work visa with your documents before UAE government will approve it.

For you to work in Dubai you will need to be employed. So, the companies that hire drivers come to Nigeria to conduct their interviews. It’s only after the interview that you should pay any money to anyone for a work visa.

However, the Dubai work visa is not as cheap as their visiting visa. The visitor’s visa is for a week or two. But work visa is for a minimum of two years an opportunity to work in Dubai and earn money.

So, the rate is higher than regular visiting visa.

Starting a Simple Road-Side Cooking Gas Shop

One business you must start this year is cooking gas shop. This business is becoming more useful every day. Yet not so many are going into it. The demand for cooking gas is increasing daily.

More families are opting for cooking gas for easy cooking as well as cost saving. One 12.5KG gas bottle can last up to 60 days depending on your cooking consumption.

Already, there is an increasing demand for gas products like regulators, cylinder, burners, hose, etc. and an average gas shop can generate up to N500,000 in monthly income. Most families can live very large on such income.

Pls, how can I get your products?
I based in Owerri.”

Prince Josh Okereke

Cooking Gas Shop Startup:

Starting a gas shop is very easy and less capital intensive. There is no specific budget, to begin with. You can actually decide your own budget with the help of this article.

I will be detailing for you everything you will need to set up a cooking gas shop, and where necessary I will give you cost estimate.

However, these costs are only estimated. You must verify them as at the time you are starting your own shop. Also, operating the shop does not require any training or qualification but might require government certification.

You can actually start one today if you choose to. It’s one business you can set up even if you a civil servant.

Your job will be to order your stock while you hire a sales girl to run the business. From your office, you can monitor inventory and replenish when you need more stock.

If you are buying from Rhino, all you need do is to collect current price list, decide the products and quantity to order and contact Rhino to give you total cost plus shipping. Then you pay into their bank account, and within 3 days your products are delivered to you.

Take The Necessary Steps:

The necessary things you need are your shop, which you would rent. You decide the shop size based on your capital. And once you have your shop, you can start sourcing your products and start selling immediately to customers. A gas shop requires little or no marketing to increase sales, an excerpt where there is competition.

But that is currently not the case with the gas shop. There are no competitions. If you look around you, maybe you will notice that if there are any gas shop close to you, it’s probably the only one. It’s only in very few cases that you can find more than one gas shop in a location.

And due to the weight of gas cylinders, gas shops should be very close to the consumers. That is why you need to set up one. Let me start by explaining how to set up your gas shop under subheadings.

Cooking Gas Shop Location:

The most important part of this business is your shop location. Your shop location is like your 60 per cent chance of being successful.

If you are in an excellent spot, you will have no problem selling your gas products even in a competitive market. I strongly recommend that you spend most of your capital on getting an excellent location in your city.

There are several factors to consider when choosing your gas shop location. Number one is being close to a large number of gas consumers. You can quickly identify this location in your city.

Although, I recommend you do a simple feasibility study of the area you choose to set up your shop. It will help you find out how many households are in that location, you can use streets and numbering to ascertain the records.

Take into account their closeness to your proposed shop location. There are different types of area, like residential, commercial, student and industrial sites.

You must identify which one applies to your situation before setup.

Choosing Your Products:

Deciding gas products to sell as a beginner may be challenging. To avoid tying down your little capital, it’s essential your stock at the beginning only fast selling products. However, this might change from time to time.

For instance, cylinders are hot selling products now but not all cylinder sizes. Also, the different market may have cylinder sizes that sell more than others.

It’s usually advisable to stock cylinders sizes in small quantities until you identify what’s selling more in your market. But it’s ok to have all the sizes in stock to avoid missing sales.

Just stock each size in equal quantity to your sales figures. I strongly recommend 5 units of significant size and 10 units of each small sizes.

Here is the List of popular Gas Products:

  • Cylinders 12.5kg, 10kg, 6kg, 5kg, 3kg
  • Normal Gas regulator (metered and non metered)
  • Camping regulator
  • Cast burner
  • Iron burner
  • Long burner

I will limit the products to just these ones here. I have my good reasons for that. They are in high demand now. They are the products you should start with now. We didn’t publish their prices here for a good reason.

The prices changes in the market, so you don’t make plans with an outdated price list.

You can also request for the pictures to identify each item by their looks. Also, note that the cost of transporting the product to your city. It’s also cost-effective using shipping method as against coming to Lagos yourself to buy. Transportation cost now is very high.

A return trip can cost over N20,000, and you don’t want to add that extra cost to your price. We recommend you buy from Rhino Industrial & Trading Company Limited. They are a trusted company.

You can order gas products from them, and you will be sure they will not run away with your money. They ship gas products to anywhere in Nigeria. Please know that they don’t accept payment on delivery.

Gas products are paid upfront before shipping, and you will pay shipping cost too, but it’s much cheaper than coming yourself.

Cooking Gas Cylinder Refill:

You can also add gas refilling in your shop. This is also a lucrative opportunity on a significant scale. I have also treated this business in another article.

However, I’m talking about the small-scale gas refilling business. Where you just buy in a much larger bottle of 100kg and resell in your shop.

Gas price is not so stable, it fluctuates with supply and demand. But the gas refill business is very lucrative. You can add it to your gas shop service.

You can start with one. I recommend you make an enquiry from the closest gas plant to you. Also, this might not work for you if the gas plant around you is closer to your customer base. Yoru will need a big gas bottle.

Hot Selling Cooking Gas Products:

Let me give you an idea of hot selling gas products and why. The kind of gas products that would sell in your location will depend on some critical factors.

If you are in a big city, the gas products you sell may vary from high end to low-end gas products. You might need a feasibility report to tell which market your location falls into.

I always advise that you do a little feasibility study. It can cost a little to hiring a consultant. But I know gas consultants are not cheap because they may not be found in your location. That increase the cost, with travel cost, hotel and feeding, plus their fee, may discourage you from hiring one. But always get the right information to help you invest.

However, pure knowledge about hot selling gas products is to look at what other gas shops are stocking more. If you noticed, gas cylinders are hot cakes now. The next hot products are gas regulators and burners. The burners work with smaller gas cylinders.

Although, there is also a regulator that can work with small bottles, like the 5kg and 6kg cylinders – which is good if you want to cook in multiple gas burners at the same time. The lower prices of a gas burner over gas cookers makes them hot selling products among low-income earners.

Requirement For A Cooking Gas Shop:

I’m going to make it as easy as possible.

I’m looking at the cheapest gas shop startup requirement even though a good gas shop should invest as much money as you can get. It’s more attractive to consumers to like to shop in a big gas shop.

However, it’s one step at a time – so there is nothing wrong with starting small and growing it big. So, I’m going to lay out for the beginners capital outlay for a neighbourhood gas shop.

I will assume that you already have a shop. I don’t want to go into the dynamics of shop rents since we are all starting from different locations. So, I will leave you to resolve the shop cost on your own.

But the most essential cost after the shop rent is the products itself. I recommend a minimal startup for beginners, like N200,000 to N300,000. I’m considering other logistics as well.

One can also start with N100,000. I can also help analyse your startup cost personally if you have limited funds. And help structure your product sourcing and cost them for you to fall within your startup budget.

I have set up a shop including rent below N300,000. It was a low-cost shop with small space and minimum products. The most important thing is the turnover.

If you have high turnover, then you may have to invest more in stocking products to be able to meet up with demands. You know there will always be a gap between when you order new stock and when it finally arrived from your suppliers.

Beginners Setup:

One of the significant challenges of starting a new business as a beginner is lack of experience in that industry. Sometimes you wish you have someone who can hold you by the hand through the process until you are established.

When there is no one to help you that way you may end up giving up on the project. But as your gas business consultant, I have made myself available to you.

Here is how to package simple gas shop business plan to help you start.

Product selections:

Pick your products based on sales potential for your location and sourcing. I would offer you this also for free if I did a feasibility report for you or not. However, I will be more specific if did feasibility report for you. That’s the only way I can be so particular about the authenticity of this report because I would have identified it during my feasibility study.

Capital investment planning:

We will decide your initial capital investment and why. I will help you plan how to invest your funds to ensure you don’t tie down capital on non-sellable products or slow-selling product. And guide you on the fast product to stock in your gas shop. I will also offer you this for free.
Shop location guide:

I will guide you in deciding how best to locate your shop. The right location in your city and your possible revenue potential for that location. Also, I can only do this for free if I did your feasibility report. It’s from the description I can know the details and be accurate. But I can also do it even if I didn’t do feasibility report for you if I can get beneficial information from you.

Product retail price guide:

This is very important and would determine how smoothly your business takes off profitably. We would arrive here by looking at your product sources, landing cost to your shop, competitive prices in your market and target customers in your chosen location.

And many others I will do based on your specific needs and situation. Just note that I don’t charge for these services. It’s free. It’s only if I have to travel that I can demand you pay for the trip, but my services for opening a gas shop is free.

How To Price Your Gas Products:

If you want to be profitable in this business, you should price your products well. I know some people have the idea that to be successful you sell cheaper than your competitors.

That’s where there are competitors and where you also have some level of monopoly on your own products or brands. That is not available for the gas shop.

So, I will advise you to resist trying to sell cheaper because that will only resort to losses for your gas shop. If you have observed, the prices of gas products from importers are the same.

And since you are not getting a cheaper deal why are thinking you can sell cheaper. The best way to price your products will be to visit an existing gas shop and inquire about their prices.

Act like a buyer.

If you act like a seller, they might give you a wrong impression.

And there is no one price fits all kind of thing. The rates in Abuja may be different from prices in Kaduna. The same applies to every city.

That’s why it’s wise to just find out from those already selling in your town and compare that with your cost.

Also, note that gas products prices are going up now due to high production cost in China. If the shop you asked has old stock, they may not give you the right price idea.

And the customer is not going to buy more product because your price is low.

Profitability Of A Gas Shop:

Finally, let’s look at the profitability of a cooking gas shop.

Although, there are worst case scenarios as well. But I will give all the situations so that whichever one your shop fall into you can see what you could be getting.

Also, note that profitability may also be affected by your shop location. The bigger your city, the more chances for profit.

However, every area will have its own advantage for your business. An average gas shop can generate up to N500,000 monthly. That’s cool half a million Nara.

For a whole year, you might be looking at up to N6 million. Some locations can be more or less depending on several factors, but one thing about gas shop business is that it’s very lucrative now.

The most important factor that would impact significantly on your profitability is your location. Once you are located in a right spot, you can only imagine how successful your gas shop can be.

Well, the worst case could just be you are situated wrongly and barely get customers buying your products. And that could lead to closing up your shop.

Thank you for reading through. We hope the information is helpful. We can assure you that we compiled this in good faith and we believed that it will help you start your gas shop immediately if you are really serious.

How To Choose The Right Kitchen Gas Regulator

The importance of cooking gas is growing every day all across Nigeria. There are many types of gas regulators on the market today. And most people don’t even know that there are features in a kitchen gas regulator.

The same way you have featured on your gas cooker or any other appliance at home. I will show you the elements that must be on your gas regulator. And when buying a regulator, you should always consider safety first.

You know the phrase, don’t play with fire? Cooking with gas is playing with fire. You all know the dangers. So, safety should be the first option to consider when buying a regulator.

Don’t buy because the price is low. Think first about your family, your husband, children and other family members who may be living in the same home as you.

How much do you value their lives? If there lives and yours are valuable, then go for the best regulator and not the cheapest. Your life is not cheap.

On average, a good regulator cost between N3,000 to N4,500 both online and offline. I recommend you buy at www.mystore.com.ng or www.Jumia.com.ng/mystore. Or any approved RHINO dealer in your city.

You can find the address of RHINO dealers on RHINO Facebook page www.facebook.com/RhinoKit

How To Choose The Best Kitchen Gas Regulator:

However, the best regulators also come with some enormous benefits you may not see on other regulators, Here are a few things you should consider when buying a gas regulator.

  1. Safety First: regulators are the primary safety feature in cooking gas business. It’s where you lock and unlock your gas cylinder. And because gas cannot be easily seen when it’s leaking, your regulator should help protect you from such leakage.
  2. Gas consumption: a regulator impacts your gas consumption. It’s through the kitchen gas regulator that the gas gets to the gas cooker. How the regulator pushes the gas and the quantity of gas it pushes at one time is essential to your consumption.

  3. Gas gauge: another thing that can surprise with gas is an empty cylinder. Your gas can run out without notice. But a good regulator should help you know when your gas is running low. You may not be able to stop your gas from finishing, but you can at least see when that is about to happen.

If you have a regulator that helps you deal with these three most important issues with using cooking gas, then you have the right gas regulator.

However, let me help you find that gas regulator so you won’t be in doubt if such gas regulator actually exists. And I’m going to be specific with all the details and even brand name so you can go look for it in the market yourself.

I will also tell you markets where you can find it and possible price range for the regulator depending on your location.

The name of the regulator is RHINO KITCHEN GAS REGULATOR WITH LEAKPROOF & GAUGE. The brand name to look for is RHINO. It doesn’t have a fake. The manufacturer is Rhino Industrial & Trading Company Limited is a registered company with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria.

So you can trust them. I can only assure you of this brand because I have used it myself and it’s a trusted brand for new generation gas regulators.

There are also other types of this regulator, but I can only write about RHINO because it was giving to me to test and confirm their claims – and that is why I wrote about it so that consumers can learn and make the right choice.

I will be writing on other regulators if the manufacturers contact me with test samples to prove their claims. Read below for what makes RHINO REGULATORS the best in Nigeria right now.

Gas Saving Low Pressure:

One of the discouragement families have from using gas to cook is the cost of gas. An average family can consume 12.5KG cylinder within 3 to 4 weeks of healthy cooking with a high-pressure gas regulator.

With the rate of cooking gas now that may be a bit on the upper side for some families – at the rate of N4,000 to fill the 12.5KG cylinder. However, using a low-pressure gas regulator can give you up to 6 weeks usage on the 12.5KG cylinder.

That’s like an additional savings of N2,000 for each gas purchased. Some families in the busy cities like Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt who major cooking like ones in a week and stock their fridge to feed on for the rest of the week. And with many times minor food within the week can get up to 8 weeks from a 12.5KG cylinder using RHINO gas regulator – which is a low-pressure gas regulator.

Leak Proof Dictator:

Another massive benefit of RHINO kitchen gas regulator is its leak-proof dictator. This is where safety comes in. Let me explain a little bit how this feature works in a regulator.

When you buy RHINO gas regulator, shake it a bit. You will hear some ticking sound inside the regulator like the sound of a tiny ball. That sound you hear is the sound of your safety.

That small ball inside your regulator help protect the regulator from leaks. It dictates leaks fast enough and blocks the regulator hole from where the gas comes out, thereby stopping gas flow and preventing any leaks that could cause a fire outbreak.

Gas Measuring Gauge:

And the most glaring feature of RHINO gas regulator is the gauge. This one is obvious on the regulator. See the picture in this article you will see the clock size measurement gauge on the side of the regulator.

That’s simple gauge is so powerful that you wished you had it since you started using gas. That device saves you both money and embarrassment.

Let me explain it adequately. If you have ever bought gas and felt you were cheated, that the cylinder wasn’t full, then you will appreciate the gauge on RHINO regulator.

It helps to measure the quantity of gas that is in your bottle so you can tell if what you paid for is exactly what you got. This one also helps you know when you are running low on gas.

You know how it feels when your gas just finished and you are still not done with cooking. And if you are cooking something for the guests in your house, it can be embarrassing.

But with RHINO regulator you can now plan ahead, and it will no longer be a sudden problem to you when your gas finished. You would have been expecting it.

There are other non-essential features of RHINO regulator, like long lasting with up to 15 years lifespan and others in that little regulator box. But these three are the most important and valuable for your money.

Don’t let anyone deceive into buying just any gas regulator for any reason. My advice, even if it looks like RHINO regulator doesn’t buy unless you are sure it is RHINO.

And Finally:

I recommend the RHINO KITCHEN GAS REGULATOR and also any other RHINO gas products for quality and protection. You can drop your comment below, and we will support the location of the RHINO DEALER in your city where you can get this regulator. Also, if you are interested in becoming a RHINO DEALER WhatsApp 07087770518 for more details.

How Nigerian Election Campaign Strategies Work

We are already less than one year to the swearing-in of another four years government. Right now, the power play is going on. Some have lost already even before the fight began.

I’m Chinedu David. I’m not a politician. I’m a business strategist. Already I can see strategists at play in this election. Good or bad, what’s more important is winning. And those who would win are those who planned to win.

It doesn’t even matter if the winning is handed over through rigging. What politicians do to win is only part of politics. Even the rigging is a strategy.

I read Donald Duke true confession on how most elections have been won in this country since 1999. And that system is still in place. Although, it favours the governors more.

The only reason, the Senate was fighting for a reverse of the election timetable is to give them and the governors the first shot of being elected.

So they don’t have to work for the ‘oga’ at the top. The fight was not for the senators alone. The governors were all behind it. They wanted it even more than the senators. But it seemed like all that has been put to rest.

Coming to political parties. There is nothing to be seen yet from all the oppositions. Apart from the name dropping of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Despite all the young blood, not too young to run candidates – who are running outside formidable party structures. I don’t think anybody is expecting these guys to win. To even believe in their winning, it’s in itself a miracle.

But what is not so clear is which political party would give Alhaji Atiku their presidential ticket?

Right now, only APC has a candidate. The man whose scorecard is not strong at all. With growing hunger and bloodshed. He doesn’t seem to have any solution to tackling the hunger and herdsmen activities that have killed more innocent people than Boko Haram.

But as things stand now, he is still the man to beat. He is the only candidate who stands a chance to win. But that is not so for other APC candidates in the governorship and National Assembly race.

The battle for them is an uphill task.

If they have to win they must seem to both fights the opposition at the state and constituency levels. And this fight is about the mind and conscience of the electorate.

Nigerians are not going to just willingly hand over their votes at this coming election. They have a choice to make.

And that choice is between hunger and survival. That gives room to betray their governors and representatives by electing any other candidate who soothes their pain.

There is a popular saying that a hungry man is an angry man. This will be a reality at this election. The seating governors shouldn’t take chances. It’s not like the kind of election we have known since 1999. This one will be different.

Many second term governors and senators might lose their seats. It’s not a prophecy. The stack reality is that people are angry right now. And their anger is on their elected leaders. And they are waiting for the election to show it.

While I was musing over this reality, I also saw a way out. Hunger is relative. Nigeria is a religious base country. We know how to fast. We can handle hunger. They only need someone to show them he cares. And that there is hope.

That is where the president has failed. He had the opportunity but never utilized it. But as a governor or representative of the people, feel their pain. You may not be able to feed all the hungry people in your state or constituency. But you can at least show them how much you wish things could have been different.

Take it or leave it. Here is what you must do to win 2019 election in a landslide victory. Make a phone call. This could be the most important phone call of your political career.

Your people would be ecstatic to hear you called to speak to them. Remember history is made in one day. You are in the place of history. Take it now. Do what nobody may think is possible. Today’s technology is our advantage. Speak to your people directly on their phones. And that memory will never leave them till they die.

And I’m going to show you all about this business, how you can start it on small investment; how you can even have it where the consumers live that are easily accessible to buyers.

And all you need to know how to start this cooking gas plant immediately – faster than you can read this article.
If you haven’t read most of my startup articles here, please do so, and you will find other businesses I have shared that can help you create your source of income.

Currently, the cooking gas plant is a very costly investment. In fact, DPR (The Directorate of Petroleum Resources) doesn’t want it easier, either as a way to protect big investors or simply because government would like this business to remain in the exclusivity.

Also, only a minimum size of 100 by 100 square feet of land space DPR can approve for the cooking gas plant setup. That’s at least a plot of Land. Although in some states you will require two plots of land to get an equivalent land size to match the DPR requirement.

In Lagos and most other states, you will need two plots of land to get this size of the area for the gas plant. Lagos lands are sold 120 by 60 square feet.

In Abia, Imo, Awka, Enugu and most states the size of a plot of land is 100 by 50 square feet. I’m only aware that Delta and Edo is exactly 100 by 100 square feet sizes for plots of land.

So, at the current land arrangements, you probably would be spending so much on just land acquisition alone before even considering other colossal cost implication of cooking gas plant.

For example, a 10-tonne cooking gas plant setup can cost around N60 million to N100 million to fully setup – including all the regulatory documents, land purchase, building construction, operation cost and gas plant equipment. Most importantly, considering that the location of your gas plant is more important than any amount you can ever invest.

That is not a manageable amount to come by these days. That does not exclude the fact that your cooking gas plant has to be setup in outskirt of town – in remote locations that is far from the city centre where most of the consumers live.

That is not an excellent site for a business that wants to be profitable. That is why many gas plants suddenly started to shut down, as they become unprofitable. If you locate outside the busy city, and someone sets up close to the city, you will automatically lose most of your customers patronage. There’s no mystery to it. That’s just how location based business works.

If for any reason you want to setup in outskirt of the town, ensure the area is a fast developing one as well. You don’t need to wait 5 to 10 years when that areas opens up before you start making profit. Think first about the customers of today, and tomorrow, before thinking of those in forever.

Here is my deal, I want to show you how you can set up at a lower cost. And also set it up in the city where the consumers live. And beat all regulatory limitations that cooking gas plant have. By building a mini cooking gas plant, with an LPG Skid plant that can be set up even in busy areas using already existing filling stations or land (if you can afford the cost of land at the city centre).

Note that DPR is not against setting up cooking gas plants in the cities. Their rules says not to setup in residential area. every city has both residential and commercial areas. So, you can setup in commercial areas. Anywhere a petrol station is allowed legally, a gas plant Cam be allowed there too.

This mini cooking gas plant are capacities from 5 metric tonne down to 2.5 and 0.5 metric tonne plants. You can also setup inside a petrol station if the station is big enough and meets DPR requirement for an add-on LPG license. And you can find such location within the city Centre’s or close enough to where the consumers can access you.

One of the 5 year plan of the government through its new gas policy is to make cooking gas accessible to the consumers. So, your mini cooking gas plant is in line with government policy.

But you will still need to get DPR to approve it for you. There’s also space restriction requirements to meet. Most times, it advisable to conduct location assessment before applying for DPR approval. The reason is once you have applied for approval if your location is rejected, you also lose the money you might have paid to government for the approval. You can hire a consultant to conduct this assessment for you. It’s not expensive at all.

So, spending a little change to obtain a valid location assessment will save you millions. An LPG gas consultant would charge between 150,000 to 250,000 naira to conduct this sssessment for you, if you have a consultant near you. But where you can’t find one around, it would cost you extra fees like transport, hotel accommodation and feeding for a day or two, considering where the consultant is coming from.

One thing to consider here is that it’s cheaper to avoid mistakes than correcting errors of a mistake. Cooking gas is a location based business. And the first DPR approval in the 3 licensing stages is LOCATION APPROVAL. That’s how it all starts. This stage of approval goes with tests that are conducted by DPR or approved consultants that would cost money, and you are paying for it (as non refundable fees).

You are getting the picture clearer now. There is no city in Nigeria where you can’t find filling stations in major city area to locate your mini cooking gas plant.

In fact, in major roads leading to many estates and even GRA’s we have filling stations. And these are the routes gas consumers take to work and their homes.

They pass these filling stations every day, and many of them never go to the outskirts of towns even in a whole year, unless when they are travelling or visiting someone there.

These stations are your secret weapon to set up your cooking gas station closer to the consumer. Although you will still need approval for them. And the requirement for a skid plant in a filling station might also make some filling station not suitable.

Now, you have to follow my instructions on how to go about it. It’s not every filling station that may be ideal for it.

Some petrol stations are too crowded and don’t have even enough space for their own business and so can’t accommodate a cooking gas plant by the side. However, you can also lease an empty land. Although, that would require paying more money for regulatory approval.

So, looking for a petrol station with a spacious environment is vital. Also, you can choose to lease the entire petrol station and add your cooking gas plant as a side business.

Or you rent space from the owner of the station for your cooking gas plant. I recommend the lease of 3 to 5 years. It will also be much cheaper because you get to pay in bulk and that gives you advantage to negotiate the rent lower.

If the site is perfect, I recommend you make an extended contract. And there is an excellent reason for that too. But if you are not so sure the site is excellent for cooking gas business, just do a short lease and add a renewable clause that won’t allow the owner kick you out after the end of the lease, if you still want to continue doing business there.

Once you have a petrol station that you can use for your gas station, the next thing will be to conduct a feasibility study. I recommend you hire a good gas consultant.
But ensure that it’s a custom report. There are business plans being sold for 20k to 50k by big gas plant equipment companies.

I advise that you shouldn’t buy this report. It’s solely packaged to sell their equipment. And they will never visit your location to know if that place is viable. Such business plan is copy and paste for the sole purpose of selling their gas plant equipment. You can’t present such plan to a bank. You’re probably not the first who may have presented that copy to a financial institution for a loan application.

The real intention of these companies is just to sell their cooking gas plant equipment. That plan is never written for the success of your own business. And it’s the same report that they give to everyone. The just update and add customer details and location and they have a business plan for you.

However, I strongly recommend you actually hire a consultant and pay him for a custom business plan with feasibility study. It may cost you around N100,000 to N150,000 for a 2.5MT or 5MT plant capacity but anything above that may cost more. It will be professionally done and customized to your need and location.

I recommend it – just go for the custom business plan to be prepared specifically for you with your location target. It will help you start, build and sell profitably. Anything less than that is a waste of your money. It’s just like buying tissue paper when you can use water to wash up clean.

The next plan will be to get the necessary approvals. You may also need to hire a consultant if you don’t know how to go about it. But cost of securing approval for setting up inside a petrol station and on empty land are not the same. You can find other of my report on this business for more details.

Here you will also need the corporation of the petrol station owner. I also recommend that you hung your lease payment on the approval of the place for a cooking gas plant. Some petrol stations license are not up to date.

So you don’t pay until DPR approves that station for gas business. That would give you the corporation of the station owner.

There may be several different approvals before DPR but that’s the work of a consultant to help you with, so hire one for it if you must. But if you have the time do it yourself.

Apart from the government fees, a consultant may take N100, 000 to N300,000 as a fee for this consulting services. Also, let me recommend that you might need a police report and fire service approval.

A cooking gas plant consultant, will help you every step of your project and also handles training of your staff and safety trainings for the cooking gas plant operations.

These might cost you up to N100,000 depending on the city. Then DPR charges are not so official. There are many charges to it. It not fixed or stipulated. Maybe because it’s done by an external body outside DPR or simple a way DPR staff can extort more money for themselves.

Don’t ignore the Nigerian factor as well. There are money through the backdoor before even the payment payable to the government.

If all these processes are done that you now have the station to use and it has been approved by DPR, then we move on to building the cooking gas station. Let me explain here that this kind of gas station is easily moveable since you are not the owner of the station.

Also, if the site is not doing so well and you wish to move to another place, it’s easily transferable. However, the cost implication for setting up may not also be fully captured here.

There may be civil works required which cannot be quantified without a professional assessment of the site and the level of work needed. But the cost of installation of the gas station is based on the capacity you can afford.

I always recommend you go for 2.5 tonnes for a start. The equipment price is between N4 million to N6 million. If you can offer two of these to make it 5 tonnes, it will be perfect. The reason is so that you don’t always run out of gas entirely before you get a new supply if your plant is in a remote location or where gas supply maybe difficult to reach easily.

As one tank is emptied, you are selling from the second tank while you call for a refill of the empty container. Also, these small capacity is what can be approved for a gas station. I don’t recommend building a single 5-tonne capacity either. And the significant size of 10 tonnes is only reserved for cooking gas plant that is setup on a full land.

The cost here includes the complete gas plant, transportation and installation. I know some buy in parts and assemble. It’s better to buy fully setup plant. It saves time, and money. You wouldn’t want the hassles of technicians. Handwork people can frustrate your business.

There are also other cost implications, which I have explained in another article HERE.

Now that your gas station is built and ready to go, you will need to order your first gas and start selling immediately. By the time your building, the neighbourhood will be asking, what are they building here?

So, you have already done publicity, and now people are expecting to start buying cooking gas from you – don’t disappoint them. If you have the 2.5 tonne, which is 2,500 KG capacity, then you should be budgeting around N1,250,000 or more as price may go up  to fill this tank, depending on the current prevailing rate.

However, this is just an estimate because the gas price is not fixed. It changes regularly. Also, note that the price is inclusive of transportation cost. Some delivery trucks charge between N20 to N30 per KG. If you Multiply it by 2,500 KG, you will get an idea of the gas rate. I know the current retail price is N650 per KG.

Although like I said, this price can change, it’s as at the time of my writing. It can be lower or higher, but just know it’s moving and it’s not a static price.
